Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2008 Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale (Afternoon Session), which included the work Reclining Nude on Green Couch by George Condo. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 90,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 66,500.00 (€ 86,979.39) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Condo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nude and Forms in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,162,500.00 (€ 5,280,634.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale (Afternoon Session) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reclining Nude on Green Couch von George Condo zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 66.500,00 (€ 86.979,39) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Condo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nude and Forms im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.162.500,00 (€ 5.280.634,10).
