Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lahneck; on the Rhine by George Francis Teniswood was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 636.87). Admittedly, works by George Francis Teniswood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset off a Rocky Shore; and A Moonlit Shore in July 2002 with an auction result of USD 4,541.00 (€ 4,635.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lahneck; on the Rhine von George Francis Teniswood im Juli 2012 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 500,00 (€ 636,87) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Francis Teniswood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset off a Rocky Shore; and A Moonlit Shore im Juli 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.541,00 (€ 4.635,57).
