Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Café by George Grosz was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2001. The price achieved of USD 9,400.00 (€ 11,117.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Grosz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gefährliche Straße in February 2020 with an auction result of GBP 9,740,250.00 (€ 11,288,971.84).

Die Arbeit Café von George Grosz kam im Mai 2001 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 9.400,00 (€ 11.117,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Grosz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gefährliche Straße im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.740.250,00 (€ 11.288.971,84).
