Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Car Crash ("Blood Pressure") by Gerard Malanga was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 625.00 (€ 746.27). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerard Malanga - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thermofax, which sold at auction in October 2015 for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,943.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Car Crash ("Blood Pressure") von Gerard Malanga im Februar 2012 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 625,00 (€ 746,27) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerard Malanga mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Thermofax beobachtet, die im Oktober 2015 für USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.943,31) versteigert wurde.
