This artwork by Giovanni di Paolo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2019. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Saint Clare rescuing the shipwrecked sold for GBP 5,313,750.00 (€ 6,280,230.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000,000.00. This high result makes Saint Clare rescuing the shipwrecked the most expensive artwork by Giovanni di Paolo that we have observed at auctions so far.
