In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work A young man in a gorget with a plumed hat by Govaert Flinck. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,470,000.00 (€ 1,262,127.59), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Govaert Flinck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An old man at a casement in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 10,327,500.00 (€ 9,479,118.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young man in a gorget with a plumed hat von Govaert Flinck zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.470.000,00 (€ 1.262.127,59) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Govaert Flinck auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An old man at a casement im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.327.500,00 (€ 9.479.118,86).
