This artwork by Gwen John achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in September this year. In the Blazing a TrailModern British Women auction, the work Woman in a beret sold for GBP 3,584.00 (€ 3,584.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gwen John achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Convalescent in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 200,500.00 (€ 229,106.20).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Gwen John erzielte im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Blazing a TrailModern British Women wurde die Arbeit Woman in a beret für GBP 3.584,00 (€ 3.584,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gwen John erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Convalescent im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 200.500,00 (€ 229.106,20).
