A top price for Hansel Mieth - as previously expected
In April 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction 50 Masterworks to Celebrate 50 Years of Sotheby’s Photographs, which included the work Rhesus Monkey by Hansel Mieth. The price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,473.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Rhesus Monkey is the most expensive artwork by Hansel Mieth that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 50 Masterworks to Celebrate 50 Years of Sotheby’s Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rhesus Monkey von Hansel Mieth zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 10.473,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Rhesus Monkey das teuerste Kunstwerk von Hansel Mieth, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
