Signed by Newton before his death in 2004, this oversized photograph is AP1 of 2 APs, aside from the edition of three. Only one other print from this edition, which is unsigned, has appeared at auction. As of this writing, the National Portrait Gallery, London and the International Center of Photography, New York each holds a smaller-sized print of this image.

In November 2021 Phillips in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work Charlotte Rampling at the Hotel Nord-Pinus, Arles, France by Helmut Newton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 441,000.00 (€ 517,775.49), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Helmut Newton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work "Big Nude III" (Variation), Paris in May last year with an auction result of USD 2,340,000.00 (€ 2,180,598.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Charlotte Rampling at the Hotel Nord-Pinus, Arles, France von Helmut Newton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 441.000,00 (€ 517.775,49) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Helmut Newton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit "Big Nude III" (Variation), Paris im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.340.000,00 (€ 2.180.598,27).
