In September 2010 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work The Air Just Went Off by Hema Upadhyay. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,000.00 (€ 18,381.00), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Hema Upadhyay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 1,027,500.00 (€ 84,590.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im September 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Air Just Went Off von Hema Upadhyay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 18.381,00) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hema Upadhyay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.027.500,00 (€ 84.590,46).
