In May 2011 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work Vrouweneiland 20 by Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 22,350.00 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vrouweneiland XXII (Martinet Hot Printing 42-80), which sold at auction in December 2006 for EUR 45,600.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Vrouweneiland 20 von Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 22.350,00 und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vrouweneiland XXII (Martinet Hot Printing 42-80) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2006 für EUR 45.600,00 versteigert wurde.
