In June 2008 Christies in London held the auction Victorian and Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work The Vale of Ashburton, South Devon by Henry John Boddington. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 44,051.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Henry John Boddington have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2000 the work An English lane was auctioned for USD 64,625.00 (€ 69,280.66).
