Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Last Farewell by Henry Nelson O'Neil was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 46,850.00 (€ 49,206.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Nelson O'Neil achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Home Again, 1858 in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 553,750.00 (€ 877,761.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Last Farewell von Henry Nelson O'Neil im Dezember 2008 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 46.850,00 (€ 49.206,13) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henry Nelson O'Neil erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Home Again, 1858 im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 553.750,00 (€ 877.761,92).
