Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Letter by Ignacio de León y Escosura was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,936.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ignacio de León y Escosura - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A card party, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 12,547.50 (€ 18,674.44).

Die Arbeit The Letter von Ignacio de León y Escosura kam im November 2005 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.936,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ignacio de León y Escosura mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A card party beobachtet, die im Juni 2004 für GBP 12.547,50 (€ 18.674,44) versteigert wurde.
