Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two street fair views, Paris, 1933 by Ilse Bing was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,125.00 (€ 961.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ilse Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait with Leica, Paris in October 2012 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 38,586.20).
