This artwork by Jacob van Es achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2013. In the Old Masters & British Paintings auction, the work Oysters, A Roemer, A Partly Peeled Lemon, An Orange And A Knife On A Stone Ledge sold for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 35,401.73) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob van Es - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With A Fish On A Terracotta Plate, Bunches Of Asparagus, Artichokes And Cherries In A Scalloped Dish, Together With Half A Cheese In A Basket, Bread Rolls, Fraises De Bois, Lemons, Oranges And Crabs All Arranged On A Table Top, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 91,250.00 (€ 104,723.03).
