Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacob Petersen of Copenhagen could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime auction, the work The Liberty of North Shields. Captn. Ths. Brown changed hands for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 6,303.73) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Other works by Jacob Petersen of Copenhagen have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2000 by the work A group of Danish cutters including the Camilla racing to windward at GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,369.93).
