In the THE FREYCINET COLLECTION auction, the work Tamor des Carolins, et femme du même archipel; Deux Carolins dansant; Deux Carolins dansant, and two proof engravings after Arago, one annotated, for plate 54 in the Atlas Historique; (Iles Carolines Danse des Naturels), and a proof engraving after sold for GBP 33,460.00 (€ 53,175.63) - well above the upper estimate Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacques Etienne Victor Arago; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nid d'Autour trouvé à L'Ile d'Irk=hatighs, 7bre 1818. sold at auction in September 2002 with the realized price of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 66,469.53).
