Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work View of Windsor Castle from across the Thames by James Burrell Smith for GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,742.62). This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by James Burrell Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
