A top price for Jan Lauschmann - as previously expected
In October 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Important Photographs from the Collection of Donald and Alice Lappé, which included the work The Evening on Our Staircase, 1927 by Jan Lauschmann. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,902.30) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Evening on Our Staircase, 1927 is the most expensive artwork by Jan Lauschmann that we have observed at auctions so far.
