In December 2014 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European & Orientalist Art, which included the work Souvenir D'Orient by Jean François Portaels. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 47,500.00 (€ 61,148.25), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jean François Portaels; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Pearl Necklace sold at auction in June 2006 with the realized price of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,546.60).

Im Dezember 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European & Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Souvenir D'Orient von Jean François Portaels zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 61.148,25) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jean François Portaels; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Pearl Necklace im Juni 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.546,60).
