Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jephta's daughter by Jean François Portaels was sold in the Old Masters and 19th Century Art auction at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2010. The price achieved of EUR 31,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean François Portaels - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Pearl Necklace, which sold at auction in June 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,546.60).

Die Arbeit Jephta's daughter von Jean François Portaels wurde im November 2010 in der Auktion Old Masters and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 31.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean François Portaels mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Pearl Necklace beobachtet, die im Juni 2006 für GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.546,60) versteigert wurde.
