In August 2004 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work A Country Bunch by John Hall Thorpe. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 1,792.50 (€ 1,040.37), 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hall Thorpe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flowers And Fruit, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,151.49).

Im August 2004 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Country Bunch von John Hall Thorpe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 1.792,50 (€ 1.040,37) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Hall Thorpe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Flowers And Fruit beobachtet, die im Oktober 2006 für GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.151,49) versteigert wurde.
