Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work Clara, (Elizabeth Billington), from Heads of Actresses by John Raphael Smith for GBP 187.50 (€ 211.40). This price was achieved in the auction British Mezzotints & Printed Hankerchiefs, Part II, from the collection of the Honourable Christopher Lennox-Boyd at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Raphael Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John Horne Tooke (1736-1812), Small Full-Length, In A Black Sleeping Hat And Blue Suit, Reclining On A Bed in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,677.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Februar 2009 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Clara, (Elizabeth Billington), from Heads of Actresses von John Raphael Smith für GBP 187,50 (€ 211,40) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British Mezzotints & Printed Hankerchiefs, Part II, from the collection of the Honourable Christopher Lennox-Boyd bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 400,00.
