Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Views in the South Seas: View in the Island of Cracatoa; A View in the Island of Pulo Condore; The Plantain Tree in the Island of Cracatoa; The Fan Palm in the Island of Cracatoa (Abbey Travel 595, pls. 4,14,15,16; Beddie 1872, nos 4, 14-16) by John Webber was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower li Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Webber achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View In Nootka Sound in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 224,750.00 (€ 252,923.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Views in the South Seas: View in the Island of Cracatoa; A View in the Island of Pulo Condore; The Plantain Tree in the Island of Cracatoa; The Fan Palm in the Island of Cracatoa (Abbey Travel 595, pls. 4,14,15,16; Beddie 1872, nos 4, 14-16) von John Webber im September 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.655,38) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Webber erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A View In Nootka Sound im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 224.750,00 (€ 252.923,20).
