Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Oysters, grapes, lemons, an orange, cherries and a loaf with silverwear, glasses and a delft vase on a draped table by Joris van Son was sold in the Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online auction at Christies in London in December 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 53,061.73) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joris van Son - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With Grapes, A Melon, An Orange, Plums And Oysters In A Stone Niche, which sold at auction in April 2013 for GBP 110,500.00 (€ 130,396.38).
