Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Watering The Camels by Joseph Austin Benwell for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,160.58). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Joseph Austin Benwell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 31,200.00 (€ 24,714.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Watering The Camels von Joseph Austin Benwell für GBP 2.937,50 (€ 4.160,58) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Austin Benwell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 31.200,00 (€ 24.714,83).
