Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chitsuisei Tsūhien by Kazuo Shiraga was sold in the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in London in October 2021. The price achieved of GBP 2,314,000.00 (€ 2,741,465.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kazuo Shiraga - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Takao, which sold at auction in June 2018 for EUR 8,731,400.00.
