Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Unique Surfboard by Kenny Scharf was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 450,000.00 – 650,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 406,400.00 (€ 48,711.54). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kenny Scharf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City of the Future in May last year with an auction result of USD 983,175.00 (€ 916,200.73).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Unique Surfboard von Kenny Scharf im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 450.000,00 – 650.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 406.400,00 (€ 48.711,54) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kenny Scharf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit City of the Future im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 983.175,00 (€ 916.200,73).
