Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

In the Editions Modern: Online Auction auction, the work Volair Constellation Series: one plate sold for USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,060.51) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leon Polk Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Over Red in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 336,500.00 (€ 297,182.73).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Leon Polk Smith erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions Modern: Online Auction wurde die Arbeit Volair Constellation Series: one plate für USD 2.520,00 (€ 2.060,51) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leon Polk Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Over Red im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 336.500,00 (€ 297.182,73).
