Sir Denys Lasdun (1914-2001) was an eminent English architect, celebrated for his commitment to Modernist ideals and his contribution to the British urban landscape. Having started his career at Wells Coates’ practice, he would go on to build 32 Newton Road, a house in Paddington which strictly followed Le Corbusier’s domino principle, and would later become Ronald Searle’s residence. Lasdun’s social commitment was demonstrated in commissions for Hallfield Primary School, cluster blocks

Sold at the lower estimate price
In November 2017 Christies in London held the auction Modern/British Art Online, which included the work Interior, Elk River, Maryland by Leonard Rosoman. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,837.87) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by Leonard Rosoman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures in a curved street, Florence in May last year with an auction result of GBP 15,750.00 (€ 18,528.38).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern/British Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Interior, Elk River, Maryland von Leonard Rosoman zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.837,87) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Leonard Rosoman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Figures in a curved street, Florence im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.750,00 (€ 18.528,38).
