Auction result well in line with expectations

In October 2015 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern Asian Art, which included the work Fascinating Garden by Liu Hongwei. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 106,250.00 (€ 12,412.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Liu Hongwei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Piggy Toy in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 860,000.00 (€ 76,931.00).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fascinating Garden von Liu Hongwei zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 106.250,00 (€ 12.412,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Hongwei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Piggy Toy im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 860.000,00 (€ 76.931,00).
