This artwork by Liu Wei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2021. In the 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale auction, the work Purple Air S sold for HKD 5,250,000.00 (€ 554,965.56) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 2,800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Liu Wei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Revolutionary Family Series (Triptych) in April 2016 with an auction result of HKD 38,840,000.00 (€ 4,375,907.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Liu Wei erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Purple Air S für HKD 5.250.000,00 (€ 554.965,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 2.800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Wei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Revolutionary Family Series (Triptych) im April 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 38.840.000,00 (€ 4.375.907,70).
