Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included this untitled work by Liu Wei. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 260,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 277,200.00 (€ 30,834.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Wei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Revolutionary Family Series (Triptych) in April 2016 with an auction result of HKD 38,840,000.00 (€ 4,375,907.70).
