Commentaire : Lu Hao remplit la maquette en plexiglass de l'Assemblée du Peuple de roses, une allégorie de la campagne des "Cents Fleurs", campagne de libéralisation éphémère dans les années 50s, ruse de Mao Zedong pour faire exprimer les mécontents et ensuite les supprimer. Oeuvre majeure de la Biennale de Venise en 1999 où étaient présents dix-neuf artistes chinois, cette oeuvre fait aussi penser au grands changements urbains de la Chine, où les immeubles et la nature ne se rencontrent plus que très peu.
Lu Hao fills the plexiglass model of the Great Hall of the People with roses, an allegory of the "Hundred Flowers Campaign" by which Chairman Mao allowed intellectuals to express their griefs against the regime in order to wipe them out. This work was part of the 1999 Venice Biennale where nineteen Chinese artists were represented. It also make us think of the great urban changes going on in China. Nature and the urban landscape are no longer in harmony.

Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2006 Artcurial in Paris held the auction 20th Century Chinese Art, which included the work Flower, Bird, Insect, Fish Great Hall Of The People, 1999 by Lu Hao. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 4,316.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lu Hao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,400.00 (€ 74,791.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2006 führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion 20th Century Chinese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flower, Bird, Insect, Fish Great Hall Of The People, 1999 von Lu Hao zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 4.316,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lu Hao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.400,00 (€ 74.791,07).
