Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Papillon (Commune verte euphorion (Ornithoptera priamus)) by Maria Margaretha van Os was auctioned at Christies in Paris in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 700.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maria Margaretha van Os achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stillleben mit Blumenvase, Apfelsinen und Himbeeren in September 2018 with an auction result of EUR 7,192.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Papillon (Commune verte euphorion (Ornithoptera priamus)) von Maria Margaretha van Os im Dezember 2019 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 500,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maria Margaretha van Os erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stillleben mit Blumenvase, Apfelsinen und Himbeeren im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 7.192,00.
