Auction result well in line with expectations

In May last year Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Anne H. Bass, which included the work No. 1 by Mark Rothko. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 45,000,000.00 – 65,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 49,625,000.00 (€ 46,244,525.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Mark Rothko have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2015 the work No. 10 was auctioned for USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Collection of Anne H. Bass durch, in der auch die Arbeit No. 1 von Mark Rothko zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 45.000.000,00 – 65.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 49.625.000,00 (€ 46.244.525,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Mark Rothko konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Mai 2015 die Arbeit No. 10 für USD 81.925.000,00 (€ 74.517.918,86) versteigert.
