Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pierrot lunaire by Markus Lüpertz was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Bonhams in London in June this year. The price achieved of GBP 82,950.00 (€ 96,539.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Markus Lüpertz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Arrangement für eine Mütze I- dithyrambisch (Arrangement for a Cap I- dithyrambic), which sold at auction in October 2020 for GBP 300,000.00 (€ 333,124.41).
