Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2004 a collector was able to acquire this work without title by Mary Tillman Smith for USD 1,912.00 (€ 1,535.50). This price was achieved in the auction Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mary Tillman Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Yellow Figure), which sold at auction in February last year for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,568.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2004 konnte ein Sammler diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mary Tillman Smith für USD 1.912,00 (€ 1.535,50) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Mary Tillman Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Yellow Figure) beobachtet, die im Februar letzten Jahres für USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.568,42) versteigert wurde.
