Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Matthew Barney could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Choice Works auction, the work Defensible Space changed hands for USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,145.53) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 18,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Barney konnte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Choice Works wechselte die Arbeit Defensible Space für USD 17.640,00 (€ 15.145,53) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 18.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
