This artwork by Mawalan Marika achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in December 2019. In the Aboriginal Art auction, the work Wititj sold for USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,463.79) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mawalan Marika have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Seagull in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,102.43).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Mawalan Marika erzielte im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Aboriginal Art wurde die Arbeit Wititj für USD 10.625,00 (€ 9.463,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mawalan Marika auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Seagull im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.102,43).
