This artwork by Max Ernst achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2013. In the The Art Of The Surreal auction, the work La Forêt sold for GBP 133,250.00 (€ 154,777.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Ernst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le roi jouant avec la reine in November last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 23,670,444.64).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Max Ernst erzielte im Februar 2013 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Art Of The Surreal wurde die Arbeit La Forêt für GBP 133.250,00 (€ 154.777,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Ernst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le roi jouant avec la reine im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.435.000,00 (€ 23.670.444,64).
