In November 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Sabean by Michael Johnson. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 33,600.00 (€ 17,326.74), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Yellow Ochre, which sold at auction in November 2007 for AUD 66,000.00 (€ 39,758.17).

Im November 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Sabean von Michael Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 33.600,00 (€ 17.326,74) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Yellow Ochre beobachtet, die im November 2007 für AUD 66.000,00 (€ 39.758,17) versteigert wurde.
