Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work Celestial Maiden with Mount Fuji by Ogata Gekko for USD 765.00 (€ 749.85). This price was achieved in the auction Iron and InkPrints and Paintings, featuring Tetsubin from the Crawford Collection at Bonhams in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ogata Gekko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Unknown in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 5,400.00 (€ 7,832.65).
