Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2000 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction THE AFRICANISTS, which included the work Corner of Kinchasa by Paul Mathieu. Here, the upper estimate of NLG 16,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for NLG 17,553.00 (€ 7,664.38). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Mathieu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Belgian Bateau Lavoir, which sold at auction in June 2009 for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,469.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2000 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion THE AFRICANISTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Corner of Kinchasa von Paul Mathieu zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von NLG 16.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für NLG 17.553,00 (€ 7.664,38) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Paul Mathieu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Belgian Bateau Lavoir beobachtet, die im Juni 2009 für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.469,33) versteigert wurde.
