Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Head Smoking by Philip Guston was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2021. The price achieved of GBP 352,800.00 (€ 417,972.71) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Guston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Strong Light in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 24,393,000.00 (€ 21,611,588.55).

Die Arbeit Head Smoking von Philip Guston kam im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 352.800,00 (€ 417.972,71) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philip Guston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Strong Light im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.393.000,00 (€ 21.611.588,55).
