Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Pierre-Jules Mêne could be acquired at Christies in London in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Collection of the late Lord and Lady Swaythling auction, the work An Arab stallion changed hands for GBP 504.00 (€ 592.91) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Jules Mêne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Accolade in May 2006 with an auction result of GBP 21,600.00 (€ 31,528.96).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Pierre-Jules Mêne konnte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Collection of the late Lord and Lady Swaythling wechselte die Arbeit An Arab stallion für GBP 504,00 (€ 592,91) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 900,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pierre-Jules Mêne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L'Accolade im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 21.600,00 (€ 31.528,96).
