Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Op de Ringdijk, Watergraafsmeer by Piet Mondrian for USD 68,750.00 (€ 58,391.37). This price was achieved in the auction Impressionist and Modern Art Online at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
