Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Piazza del Popolo, Rome, looking towards the churches of Santa Maria di Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli by Pietro Bellotti was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 159,815.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pietro Bellotti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Venice with the Punta della Dogana, looking East towards the Doge's Palace; and Venice with the Grand Canal, S. Geremia and the entrance to the Cannaregio, which sold at auction in July last year for GBP 425,000.00 (€ 507,525.49).
