In October 2021 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Islam, the caretaker of Beth El Synagogue (diptych) by Probir Gupta. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 7,560.00 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Probir Gupta have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work signed (on reverse) in May 2007 with an auction result of HKD 480,000.00 (€ 45,705.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Islam, the caretaker of Beth El Synagogue (diptych) von Probir Gupta zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 7.560,00 und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Probir Gupta auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit signed (on reverse) im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 480.000,00 (€ 45.705,79).
